The 2011 Maya Meetings are coming next month. Please join us in Austin for a stimulating few days of workshops and lectures on Maya hieroglyphs, art and culture. This year our topic is:
2012: Time and Prophecy in the Mesoamerican World
Workshops run from March 23-25, and the Symposium from March 26-27.
Details on the program and registration information can be found on the Maya Meetings website.
A question was asked at the Meeting: “When is the next 4 Ahau 8 Kumku Baktun ending”
If my arithmetic is correct there is one at 2.7.9.0.0.0.0.
This assumes that the first 13 rolls over to 1, and that threafter the Baktun and higher periods roll up modulo 20.
You may be right. I’m glad you’re doing the math and not me! The question at the meetings, as I understood it, was whether 4 Ahaw 8 Kumk’u would recur on a future station of repeating 13s, which I think is impossible. – David
